Why Foodie Kids
We launched our exciting kids classes (originally called Foodie Tots) in October 2016 aimed at helping parents to encourage interest & broaden their children's range of foods or in many cases, deal with mealtime battles!
At Foodie Kids we feel passionate about children’s nutrition. We want children to grow up enjoying food and finding the pleasure in eating, to regularly eat a wide and varied range of foods and selecting foods which are good for them, to give them the right nutritional start in life. However, childhood obesity is a growing problem and it's getting harder for parents to get their children to eat healthily when there are so many choices and confusing messages about what food they should and should not eat.
Foodie Kids was born from a number of parents expressing their concern about having children who are fussy eaters. In addition to our wealth of knowledge, particularly in the area of children’s nutrition, Clare has first-hand experience, as her oldest child was a fussy eater from an early age. Clare knows how exhausting and frustrating it can be trying to get a toddler or young child to eat healthily. Although Julia’s children are good eaters, encouraging them to regularly eat and enjoy vegetables and fruit has not always been easy and she understands the difficulty in encouraging them to try something new.
In 2018, due to many enquiries from parents with school aged children who needed encouragement around eating well and following a request from a local primary school, we began our after school classes aimed at 4 to 9 year olds.

What We Do
Foodie Kids is a 45 - 60 minute class for children aged 2 years +
- In a friendly, relaxed and fun environment your child will learn about mostly fruit and vegetables through game playing, exploring and tasting
- Encourage their children to be more adventurous with their eating
- Learn about healthy foods in a fun light-hearted way.
- Particularly suitable for picky or fussy eaters to encourage them to consider new foods in an unpressurised setting.
- Find fun activities to do with their children but also learning valuable information - a playgroup with a purpose!
- Foodie Kids can also help make meal times at home more relaxed, spelling the end of teatime tantrums
- Centred around the rainbow, each weekly class focuses on different coloured food (usually two vegetables and one fruit). The class includes:
- Two to three simple games which aims to get the child comfortable touching these foods.
- Opportunity to try these foods, usually in two different ways, but with no pressure to do so.
- Well done sticker at the end of the class.
- Detailed information sheet for parents, with a recipe, nutritional benefits on the foods discussed that day, along with practical ideas for ways to increase these foods into your family's diet.
- Chance to ask questions to trained nutrition professionals.
